New Jersey knows style, in part because of their red-hot salon scene, led by some of the coolest instructors who use their status to help the greater good. You can see this in the effort by instructor Kathy Johnson at the Monmouth County Vocational School District. At a recent event, she and her students practiced their cosmetology skills on people in need. This is a great way for students to get practice on real people who truly appreciate it as well. Cosmetology teacher training is more than teaching hands on skills — you have to teach personal development as well.
