Education Details

Knowing how electrolysis works is at the core of this type of program. Your instructors may go over the theory of this process with you while helping you understand hair growth. Electrolysis kills permanent hair growth by repeatedly delivering electric pulses to the base of the hair follicle. Once you have completed this part of your training, you may start learning how to really work as an electrologist. After learning how to perform a proper client consultation and assessment, you may start learning the physical techniques of electrolysis. This involves using the right tools and developing your electrolysis technique.

License Renewal

South Carolina doesn’t regulate the field of electrology, so you won’t have to worry about an in-state requirement or renewal process. But, in order to become an electrologist in this state you will have to pass the American Electrology Association certification exam. The cost for the exam is $325 for nonmembers, and $275 for members. This is definitely a good organization to join, so there’s your incentive! Your AEA CPE certification will expire every five years. The AEA offers continuing education courses for professionals that you should also consider.
