MATC needs to be more transparent about its program admission process. I applied to MATC because I wanted to join the Medical Diagnostic Imaging program. I looked up MATC’s admission rate which was 100%. The program did say there was a petition process to get into the Imaging program which I reviewed and had no problems with the requirements. After a really slow response regarding the receipt of my transcripts I was admitted to MATC. I left a good paying job for a lower paying job with flexibility for school. Only AFTER visiting the academic advisor did they reveal (kind of rudely I might add) that they have a 2-3 YEAR WAITING LIST for the program!!! They only take 11 students a year into this program and that “I would need to petition many times before I got in.” DISGUSTED that this school can’t be upfront about this! This should be on the program’s information page on the website!! Don’t you think people need this information BEFORE applying?? For it to take 5 years to get an ASSOCIATES Degree is definitely information you need to share with potential students so they know how to plan out their lives! If I knew this I wouldn’t have left my job yet. After reading others reviews it seems to be par the course for this institution. Advice to all- ASK if there is anything you should know about a program including waiting lists BEFORE applying to MATC because they think it’s fine to trick people this way and just want to make money off of your application fees.

Horrible school, ruined my life, provides no help and all their “resources” are just other organizations or programs they’ll refer you to, like the local homeless shelter. I’ve been trying to go to school for a while and graduate and learn everything I can.

The selection process for the dental hygiene program at this college seems opaque and lacks transparency. Students are chosen based on criteria that are neither published nor clearly communicated, leaving applicants uncertain about what they need to work on or improve. After wife's multiple applications over the span of four semesters, I’ve seen no feedback, guidance, or explanation of what the program values most in applicants. This lack of transparency is frustrating, as it leaves applicants in the dark, unable to adjust their applications to meet the program's expectations. Even academic advisors appear to be in the dark about the selection process, adding to the confusion and raising questions about whether there’s any standardized or objective criterion at all. Furthermore, a look at the program’s graduation photos shows a notable lack of diversity among students. It’s concerning that, year after year, the cohorts appear to lack representation from a broad spectrum of backgrounds. This adds to the impression that the program might not be fostering an inclusive environment. Overall, the program’s lack of clarity around the admissions process and the apparent absence of diversity suggest that improvements are needed in both transparency and inclusivity.
