I promise you, this school will make getting your license feel like absolute hell. Many of the educators are short with students and often either do the work for you without explaining, or give you a rushed, unclear rundown before leaving you to figure it out yourself.
For the amount of money you pay, you’d expect a thorough education and respectful communication but that’s not the case. My work and service sheets were lost multiple times, I had to redo assignments I’d already submitted, and classes were frequently left without instructors or substitutes.
The school is extremely money driven. I was even forced to take a client with visible toe fungus and to “just work around it,” which was completely inappropriate and unsanitary. Many clients also don’t seem to understand this is a school, and some treat students rudely for taking longer or needing guidance.
The environment itself feels like high school all over again, full of drama and favoritism. My class was once threatened with being dropped from the program by Kathy Acosta if we told anyone about a student–teacher affair, instead of addressing the inappropriate behavior of the barber educator involved.
The time leading up to graduation was extremely stressful. My service sheets were entered incorrectly, and on my graduation day, I was told I hadn’t completed my services even though I had detailed proof and photos that I had. I had to redo services the day of my graduation causing stress on the one day I thought would make it all worth it.
Monthly one-on-one meetings with your coach are supposed to happen, but I only had about three during my entire time there. Communication is terrible you’ll have to constantly chase people for responses to emails and calls.
After finishing the program, I followed all instructions and emailed Ms. Beonca to schedule my exit interview. Weeks went by with no reply, even after confirming all my payments. Nearly a month later, I finally got through by calling directly, and they scheduled it the next day.
Kayla, the head of the school, clearly plays favorites, which affects how easy or difficult students’ experiences are.
The only bright spot was Ms. Kelz, she genuinely cares about students and represents what an educator in this field should be.
Overall, I would not recommend this school. The lack of professionalism, organization, and respect for students’ time and money made this experience extremely disappointing.

I’ve been to this salon multiple times before and never had an experience like this one. This visit was by far the most unprofessional service I’ve ever received. I came in with natural roots and blonde ends, showed a picture of the creamy blonde look I wanted, and ended up stuck there from 10 AM until 5:30 PM. After more than seven hours, I left with brassy, patchy hair that looks like two completely different colors on each side of my head.
Here’s why: the student working on my hair was overwhelmed, with about four different instructors giving her conflicting directions, then walking off without actually supervising. At one point, another student even worked on the other side of my hair, and the two results don’t match at all. The stylist herself admitted the mistakes were made by the other student and even apologized — but she was standing right there while it was happening and could have corrected it. Instead, she let it slide.
To make it worse, when I asked about fixing it, she said she could set me up for another appointment. But only after I said yes did she mention it would cost me another $50 for a highlight and toner — even though she had already admitted fault. I had already paid $146 (plus a generous tip) for this appointment, and now they wanted me to pay again just to fix their own mistakes. That’s completely unacceptable.
On top of everything, I paid $35 for a “hair treatment” that was nothing like what I’ve received here before. Normally, the treatment is longer and leaves my hair soft. This time it was a tiny bottle of combined “serum” that felt mostly like water, applied in the bowl for maybe five minutes, and my hair was left drier than before. It honestly felt like they rushed it just to move me out after already wasting my entire day.
Overall, this was exhausting, disappointing, and completely unprofessional. I wasted 7.5 hours, spent nearly $200, and left with worse hair than when I walked in. I’ll be going somewhere else to have it corrected and sharing photos so others can see the results.
