This is my second visit for full highlights. They did an amazing job, and I absolutely love my hair! A huge thank you to Leyah H. and Haleigh W. — you both are fantastic! Also, a shoutout to GeeGee Cunningham for guiding the girls. You all make a great team.

If it wasn't for Mariah I would NEVER EVER come back to this place!!! She does such a good job on my hair, its such a shame that it doesn't have to do with anything to do with this school. I never see a single teacher in sight every single time I'm here, as a matter of fact the catchphrase of my entire last appointment was "where is Tiff" which was the teacher who literally disappeared for over an hour at a time MULTIPLE times. Which doesn't feel very great when youre at a school with students who need supervision and help, luckily Mariah is such a good future stylist that I didnt have worry too much. The only teacher I saw for over 30 students was 1 guy, I think his name was Stephan. There was no soap in the bathroom, which is just disgusting. When she went to shampoo my hair for the first time there was absolutely no hot water, its not very relaxing when the water is ice cold and my neck hurt so much in the bowls. Also, there was not 1 single clean dry towel in the whole place, but I guess I was lucky I at least had a clean SOAKING WET towel to dry my hair with. So unprofessional. At the end my hair looked great, but the teacher on staff tried to charge me for 3 extra bowls of color that I did not get, which was $30! Thankfully Mariah had my back and the person up front i think she was named was Melissa, didnt charge me for it. To be charging $28,000 for 1 single students tuition, this place needs better maintenance and teachers who are actually dedicated to teaching their students how to be good professionals. Its honestly disgusting how they treat this place and their students. Do better.

I’d like to point out exactly what kind of “culture” Paul Mitchell The School Charlotte stands for — because they made it crystal clear in an email they sent to students:
> “The review section on our PMTS Charlotte page is for guests to review their service and or experience with us. It is NOT for you to review the school as a future professional. If you leave a disparaging comment or post you are violating our social media / internet policy... and we will follow our guidelines and act accordingly.”
That says everything you need to know. They don’t want honest feedback — they want silence and control. They want your tuition, not your truth.
I spent thousands of dollars here thinking I’d be investing in real education, mentorship, and professionalism. What I got was disorganization, favoritism, burned-out instructors, and a leadership team more focused on protecting their image than helping students actually learn or grow.
The moment you speak up, you’re treated like a problem. The moment you’re critical, you’re “violating policy.” But we paid tens of thousands of dollars to be here. We have every right to share our experiences — good or bad.
If you’re considering this school, take that quote above as your warning: they don’t want accountability, just applause.

Paul Mitchell’s Charlotte location opened in 2010 to offer an industry-leading education program to cosmetologists and instructors.
The 1,500-hour cosmetology program offers two options: you can learn on-campus full-time or complete 30% of your program through distance education courses.
The teacher training program is 800 hours. It emphasizes guiding emerging artists through theory, student performance, and exams.
Attending a Paul Mitchell school can open you up to many opportunities. They offer $1 million in scholarships to students nationwide and have a leading nationwide job network. Each student even gets an iPad and professional student kit for coursework.
