I had a very disappointing experience at Xclusive Beauty Academy, mainly due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of the instructor, Perla. From the beginning, she often seemed frustrated while teaching, despite knowing that my classmates and I were beginners — which is exactly why we enrolled in the program.
Her teaching method involved demonstrating makeup techniques once on a model and then expecting us to master them immediately. If we didn’t get it right the first time, she would respond with visible frustration, rude comments, and a generally negative attitude. It made the learning environment stressful and discouraging.
Communication was also a major issue. There were several instances where Perla would cancel class last minute, or not notify us at all. Some days, we would show up only to be told to go home. However, when I had surgery and provided her with a medical excuse in advance, she said she couldn't accept it. When I returned, she was visibly upset with me and claimed I had missed a significant amount — something my classmates later confirmed was untrue. Her anger was so noticeable that even her husband, who works there, had to step out with her, and the assistant came in to check on us.
After that tense encounter, Perla stopped showing up to class entirely. I was left with no communication, no proper instruction, and no support. At that point, I made the decision to stop attending and chose not to invest any more time or money into a program that clearly did not value or respect its students.
I paid nearly $3,000 for this course, which included the class and makeup kit, and I feel that I did not receive the respect, professionalism, or quality of instruction that any student — paying customer or not — deserves. I cannot in good conscience recommend this program to anyone.
Update after response:
I'm disappointed to read your response, as it reinforces the exact concerns I had during my time at Xclusive Beauty Academy. Rather than addressing the core issues I raised — such as your unprofessional conduct, lack of communication, and poor instructional methods — your message shifts the focus to personal attacks and assumptions about my motives.
To clarify, I never questioned your right to take medical leave. What I did take issue with was the double standard applied: my documented medical absence was dismissed, while your absences — many of which were not communicated in advance — were expected to be understood without question.
The cost breakdown you listed only confirms how much students invest in this program, making it even more important for us to receive consistent, respectful, and quality instruction. Instead, we were met with frustration, inconsistent class sessions, and a learning environment that became increasingly hostile.
I’ve shared my experience so that others can make an informed decision. I hope this feedback encourages reflection and ultimately leads to a better experience for future students.
