Mrs. Sweeting’s wealth of knowledge, talent and experience affords her the ability to be versatile in her business. From teaching, styling, coaching, providing safe and therapeutic space for clients, Mrs. Sweeting is a gift to all! I’m grateful to have found her and her business as she has provided many affordable services from shampooing and conditioning to men styles like stitch braids, starter locs/comb twists and two strand twists. Every time I sit in her chair it’s similar to a therapy session with her continuous pearls of wisdom, humor, education, genuine care and concern. It’s truly a one of a kind experience!

If you have natural curls and care about their maintenance, I wouldn’t recommend this place. The stylist didn’t listen to my request for a trim-to-light-cut, and didn’t ensure my hair was even. The hairstyle was too tight and painful, which may be due to my lack of experience with protective styles. I ended up taking the style down because I want to keep my edges. The stylist also used a one-size-fits-all approach, which didn’t suit my needs. Oh and she was late. I’m not the confrontational type, but this is a heads up to anyone who’s particular about curl care.

Their cosmetology program is the only school in Nashville where you can learn natural hair styling like braids, locs, twist, and weaves. Students focus on all aspects of natural hair care.
The braiding boot camp is a 16-hour fast-track course that allows you to become a certified hair braider.
You can also join the 300-hour natural hair styling program or complete your continuing education hours to maintain your licensure. Online classes are also available.
