I thoroughly enjoyed the in-person continuing education course at the Swedish Institute this past weekend.
As a former Swedish Institute faculty member and someone who currently assists in teaching the Medical Massage CE Certification program, I deeply appreciate well-run, thoughtfully taught CE courses and the Swedish Institute consistently delivers.
This weekend’s Fundamentals of Ortho-Bionomy: The Extremities course was a true pleasure. The subject matter was engaging and immediately applicable, and Rosa, our instructor, was outstanding. She is deeply knowledgeable, warm-hearted, and passionate about the work, and she held space beautifully for learning, questions, and exploration. Studying with her was genuinely enjoyable, and I absolutely plan to continue with more Ortho-Bionomy courses as they are offered.
Over the years, I’ve taken many in-person CE courses at Swedish, and the quality has been consistently excellent with diverse offerings, skilled instructors, and a learning environment that truly supports hands-on, in-person learning.
And finally, a big thank you to Tania and her team for making these courses so seamless and accessible. They do a wonderful job facilitating continuing education with excellent faculty, making CE feel less like a requirement and more like a gift.
Highly recommend to any practitioner who values learning, connection, and excellent teaching.

This school ACTUALLY cares about their students. They are so efficient with what they do and I couldn’t thank them enough for the expedited application process. The financial aid office as well as the dean and director of admissions are so helpful and make sure they walk you through the entire process explaining the tuition, the book, the uniform, school policies and everything.

I was genuinely considering attending this school, and my experience with my advisor started off very positive. Over time, however, the communication shifted. During several phone calls, the tone became unexpectedly harsh, and after I sent one detailed message explaining my situation, I did not receive any response for about a week. When the advisor eventually called, I missed the call due to an important commitment but returned it as soon as I could. The conversation that followed felt dismissive; I was told not to send long messages because “she didn’t have time,” even though it had only happened once.
I also received text messages from the advisor around 2 a.m. on more than one occasion, which I never complained about, but the overall attitude in our later interactions left me feeling discouraged and unwelcome. I attempted to continue communicating with short, brief messages, but the tone remained the same. I was eventually advised to try a different program or even a different school altogether, which was disappointing considering how hopeful I had been at the beginning.
I’m sharing my experience not to be harsh, but to be honest. I think constructive, respectful communication is important—especially for students who are trying to make big decisions about their education.
Edit: A representative at Swedish contacted me shortly after my review being posted. He helped clarify things , and addressed my concerns. This significantly improved my experience , and I’m extremely grateful they took the time to reach out to resolve this. My new admissions advisor has been extremely helpful and responsive. He took the time to understand my situation, corrected the issues I was experiencing, and is now doing his best to get me into the program I want by the month I’m hoping to start. I really appreciate his support and the effort he’s putting in to make this happen.

"Swedish Institute has a 103-year history teaching massage," explains alumna Alexes. "There are many other massage schools in New York, but Swedish Institute kept coming up in random conversations. I enrolled at Swedish Institute post-knee replacement and it's been one of the best decisions I've made."
