I currently go to this school for massage therapy. This program is very hands-on, and I’ve gained valuable practical experience. The students are friendly and helpful with one another and I love my professors. They’re knowledgeable and willing to help you get on track if you fall short.
However, administrative support is EXTREMELY lacking. There are no accessible advisors, and students are often required to contact the dean directly for routine issues. Unfortunately, communication is very inconsistent. Emails always go unanswered, even when they are time-sensitive.
In my case, my class schedule conflicted with my work schedule. (The school creates our schedules). I reached out multiple times to the dean via email before the semester began and even called twice. I was told a form would be sent to me later in the day for me to fill out but it was never provided. After following up several times via email with no response, I had to travel over an hour and a half on my day off just to speak with someone in person. Even then, there were multiple students waiting, making it difficult to get timely assistance so then I had to come back on another day. It’s very annoying and frustrating that I have to keep leaving in the middle of class in hopes that I can finally speak with someone about my class schedule. And this is not the only incident. I don’t understand how I constantly get emails from her but when I email her back it’s crickets. Then it’s even more frustrating to go in person. I wish there was someone else I can speak to other than the dean when I’m having issues with my program.
Because of the delay in communication, I was ultimately unable to adjust my schedule properly once the deadline passed… something that could have been avoided with basic responsiveness…. Now I’m in my second semester overwhelmed and frustrated with a lack of support.
While the educational component is strong, the lack of administrative support and communication makes the overall experience unnecessarily stressful and inconvenient. This school is charging way too much money in tuition for inconsistent communication. The only time they seem to respond to emails is if they need you to make a payment. This school needs to improve its advising structure and responsiveness for future students.

I strongly do not recommend this school. During enrollment, they constantly call and pressure you to register, but once you’re enrolled, the communication and support drop completely.
There are also unexpected charges that are not clearly explained, which feels misleading and unprofessional. This school appears far more concerned with money than student success. I would strongly suggest considering other options, such as CUNY.
If zero stars were an option, that’s what I would give.

"Swedish Institute has a 103-year history teaching massage," explains alumna Alexes. "There are many other massage schools in New York, but Swedish Institute kept coming up in random conversations. I enrolled at Swedish Institute post-knee replacement and it's been one of the best decisions I've made."
