If you are reading this please be aware and proactive before you cause any damage to your hair. Giving one star is mandatory otherwise I would give zero. I came here thinking these students were being professionally trained and I would have an enjoyable experience while also helping a student along their career. In reality, I experienced a student who does not have passion for this profession, does not listen to her client, and only talks about her ex-boyfriend.
I have been going to a different salon for years, but unfortunately my lady had left for maternity leave, and instead of creating a new relationship with a different PROFESSIONAL stylist I thought I would give back and help students, considering they are learning but have knowledge before helping clients. I sadly was mistaken. I went and saw Angela, who at first was really inviting and nice upon meeting her. I was excited and thought this was going to be a great experience. Not only 10 minutes later, she started venting to me about her boyfriend problems. When discussing what I wanted done (a full head of highlights to become blonde for summer), she would interrupt me to mention her boyfriend again, it became concerning. We discussed my options and how it would take a few visits to achieve the look I wanted to prevent damage, and it seemed like she was knowledgeable. She mixed up some color and said it would blend with my natural hair, perfect what I wanted. 30 minutes later, she was done foiling my hair, HOW? I was concerned because I wanted a full head of highlights so how can a student be done foiling a whole head with just under 30 minutes? Instead of fighting, I just asked a few questions and she told me it was all she was able to do, that just did not make sense. It should have been my clue to grab someone more trained. After a rinse and wash, she was drying my hair. During that time, her boyfriend was the topic of discussion again. Just to note, he rides a Harley and owns a cat, but they recently broke up and she is devastated because she does not understand why he is upset that she is now seeing one of his friends... personally a little TMI. While drying my hair, I started to notice really white "blocked" looking chunks of my hair coming out.. I asked her if these were going to blend, and she said yes. I became nervous and rightfully so, as once she was done, I had blocks of "highlights" in my hair!! Nothing was blended, and NOTHING looked natural. I voiced my concerns only for Angela to tell me this was the best she could do and no one would notice! I told her I did not like it and asked if it could be fixed and she flat out told me no. I was left to leave with chunks of blonde left in my hair and "stylist" if even that, with no compassion or empathy for my concerns. Real "great" chair side manners! I now had to pay 400$ to a different stylist to rectify unnecessary bleach to my hair in order to not look like 2000's Christina Aguilera with chunks of blonde hair. Angela is not a stylist, and really needs to reconsider her career if this is how she treats clients. It is also clear she really needs to make amends that her ex-boyfriend does not want to be with her, that is a problem I did not need to have. I will never come back, and never recommend helping a student again. It is very clear this school is not trying to train hair professionals. If you're thinking about trying to be like me and help a student while trying to color your hair for summer, please stay far away from Angela and seek other salons. Save your money, time, and energy for a better experience.
