I recently completed the nail program at Paul Mitchell Phoenix, and unfortunately, my overall experience was extremely disappointing. I am sharing this review because prospective students deserve to know what my experience was like before making a significant financial and time commitment. One of my biggest concerns was the lack of education and preparation for entering the industry and taking the state board exam. I did not feel adequately prepared with the knowledge, skills, or hands-on experience I needed after completing the program. A beauty school should prepare its students to confidently enter the profession and meet state licensing requirements, and I did not feel that I received that level of preparation. There were also significant staffing and classroom concerns. At one point, one instructor was responsible for splitting her time between two classrooms, which made it difficult for students to receive the individual instruction, supervision, and support needed to properly learn. Hands-on training was another major issue for me personally. Despite repeatedly asking for opportunities to perform nail services, I was only given pedicures. I enrolled in a nail program because I wanted to develop a well-rounded set of nail skills, including building my confidence and ability to perform full nail services. Being repeatedly limited to pedicures left me feeling that I did not receive the hands-on training I needed. The physical learning environment was also disappointing. Nail students were required to work out of a cosmetology theory classroom using fold-up tables, often with very limited space between students and clients. Meanwhile, other programs had designated salon spaces and more appropriate facilities. There were ongoing concerns with electrical access as well. With approximately 25 students sharing a limited number of outlets, extension cords were frequently used and connected together to accommodate the equipment needed for class. This raised legitimate safety concerns. There were also concerns regarding instructor professionalism and inappropriate comments or behavior. These concerns were reported, but I did not feel they were adequately addressed. What makes all of this especially frustrating is the cost of the program. Students make a substantial financial investment with the expectation that they will receive quality education, hands-on training, professional facilities, and preparation for their careers. Unfortunately, I left the program feeling that I did not receive the level of education, practical experience, or preparation that I expected. I raised my concerns through CORE surveys, conversations with the school advisor, and email correspondence. Other students also voiced similar concerns. Despite this, many of these issues remained unresolved throughout my time in the program. I hope the school takes this feedback seriously and makes meaningful changes for future nail students. Students deserve to leave a program feeling confident, properly trained, and prepared to enter the industry — not feeling like they have to teach themselves the skills they paid to learn.

So nice. Worked with me on the price. Emma J spent hours carefully wrapping thin strands of hair in foils. My daughters hair turned out beautiful very professional, beautifully blended. MUCH better job done here than at a very expensive salon in Scottsdale where we paid a lot more for large thick choppy streaks that they didn’t even blend BE SAFE WITH YOUR HAIR AND COME HERE. PAYING MORE DOESN’T MEAN BETTER WORK Google only lets me post one time?? Ok, since the above post we have been back- it’s now 7 months later- 8/14/26 Our stylist was J.C. AGAIN- My daughters hair turned out beautiful. You can expect to be here for several hours but SOOO WORTH it. This time her hair was a home dye mishap. She needed serious color correction. I didn’t think it would turn out good but 85$ later? AMAZING. Her dad’s salon charged 600$ once and did terrible work. *Please see the second picture. THIS IS WHAT JC CAN DO WITH ORANGE HAIR The only complaint I have is I HATE THE REMODELING. Paul Mitchell is in a Mid Century Mod building and they are ripping out the original marble tile with yellow and gold flecks. I’m so disappointed 😢

Graduated student from this school and I am very proud and pleased to say that the education I got here was top notch. There wasnt anything that i didnt learn. The educators are just amazing. The staff makes you feel like a family. If you are considering this school for your education i would highly recommend it. I would specially recommend the esthetics program which is absolutely the best. The facials at this school are absolutely great and the students are more than prepared to assist your beauty needs. Not to mention the affordable prices. If I could I would rate the school 20 stars.
