I enrolled in the Master Tattoo Institute’s online program and unfortunately had the same experience many other online students have reported. I can’t speak about the on‑site program or the in‑person instructors, but the online experience was extremely disappointing.
Before enrolling, communication was excellent. Every question I asked was answered quickly, and the program was presented as an amazing opportunity. Once I signed up and they began withdrawing money from my account, the communication changed completely. Messages went unanswered, support became inconsistent, and several things I was told before enrolling turned out not to be not accurate. Because of this, I ultimately had to withdraw.
I only received two classes—Beginner Art and Body Piercing. The body‑piercing instructor was professional, but the rest of the experience felt rushed and unorganized. Classes were very short, and when I asked for help navigating their app, accessing the art supply list, or finding previous class videos, I was ignored repeatedly.
All communication happened through their messaging system and meetup app, and even there I was consistently overlooked. When I clarified that I was in Week 1, not Week 4, the instructor dismissed my message and continued without acknowledging anything I said. Being ignored through written communication felt unprofessional and made it clear that online student support was not a priority.
I also learned that the “scholarship” they advertise through Blacksmith Tattoo Supplies is misleading. They make it seem like the 40% discount is exclusive to students, but anyone can receive that same discount directly from the company’s website. Their inventory is extremely limited, and for the amount I paid, I could have purchased a greater quantity of equipment—with better overall value—from other reputable suppliers.
I’m a hands‑on learner, and online programs aren’t for everyone, but the lack of support made it impossible to succeed. I’m not trying to criticize any individuals, businesses, or companies. I genuinely wish the best for anyone who chooses to attend. I simply want to share my experience so others can make informed decisions.
This review is for educational and informational purposes only. I do not need a response, apology, or follow‑up from the owner or staff. In my view, public replies that do not address the underlying concerns only reinforce the perception of unprofessionalism. Instead, I hope the school takes the opportunity to learn from the experiences of students who have withdrawn or expressed concerns and use that feedback to improve their online program.
For anyone considering this school, I encourage you to be thorough in your decision‑making process. Explore alternative educational options, speak with former students, compare programs, and—if possible—visit facilities in person to understand the environment and instructional approach. Take your time, gather information, and choose the path that aligns best with your learning style and long‑term goals. Wishing the best to anyone pursuing a career in this field.
