DO NOT ENROLL AT JENKS BEAUTY COLLEGE FOR COSMETOLOGY – My Honest Experience
If you’re considering Jenks Beauty College, I highly recommend looking elsewhere—at least for their cosmetology program. My experience was extremely disappointing, and I would not want anyone else to go through the same struggles I did.
No Instructor, No Real Education
When I started in December, there was no instructor for the PM cosmetology class. I was one of only two students in the program at the time, and instead of receiving proper guidance, we were left to teach ourselves. How can a beauty school operate without an instructor? I maintained honor roll status through self-teaching, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that students are paying for an education they are simply not receiving.
Constantly Changing Hours & No Stability
The school changed class hours three times while I was there, making it impossible to maintain a stable schedule. Whether you work, have a family, or other responsibilities, this kind of inconsistency makes it incredibly difficult to plan your life. Instead of a structured, professional environment, it felt like decisions were being made at random.
Disrespect from Administration & Students
One of the most disappointing aspects of my experience was the blatant lack of respect from both administrators and students. I had a personal incident where a student disrespected me for no reason, and instead of addressing it properly, the administrator, Tarina, told me that “no one has to respect you.”
This response was shocking and completely unprofessional. Respect should be the bare minimum in any educational setting, and being told that I didn’t deserve that was beyond unacceptable. The administration did not care about student well-being or fostering a professional learning environment.
Mismanagement & False Information
To make things even worse, I was wrongfully told that I had dropped out—even though I never did. This level of miscommunication and incompetence is a major red flag. If a school cannot keep accurate records of its students, how can they be trusted to provide a reliable education?
The Disappointment Hit Hard
I had Jenks Beauty College on my list for years before enrolling. I was excited to start, believing it would be a great place to grow in my craft. To have this be my experience was deeply disappointing. I worked hard, remained self-motivated, and kept my grades high, but instead of being supported, I was ignored, disrespected, and let down.
The Only Redeeming Factor: Their Esthetics Program
The only program I would recommend at Jenks is their Esthetics program. They have an amazing instructor who actually teaches and provides students with the education they need. However, cosmetology—especially for PM students—is not worth it.
Final Thoughts – Choose a Better School
Jenks Beauty College’s cosmetology program is poorly managed, lacks structure, and fails to provide students with the education and respect they deserve. While the esthetics program may be worth considering, the issues you will face in the cosmetology program make it not worth your time, money, or energy.
If you are serious about your beauty career, choose a school that actually values its students. There are better options out there where you won’t have to fight for proper instruction, stability, and respect. I hope my experience helps others make a more informed decision before enrolling.

I had set up a time to come and tour the school, I went to my tour and as soon as I walked in no one was really friendly at all, they seemed to be unaware of how to properly conduct a tour especially for a future professional.
Once I got into the tour with the school coordinator or director she was not answering many of the questions that I had at all it was more her pushing me to enroll instead of giving me the correct information that I needed!
A few weeks had gone by and I was still actively trying to enroll, I called multiple times to ask questions and got no answer at all. Once I finally got ahold of The person that conducted my tour about financial aid, enrollment dates, everything I would need, loan questions etc. on the phone I was literally getting told “I don’t know” “well I don’t know” FROM THE PERSON IN CHARGE! I was able to get enrolled at a different school and I am so glad that I did. Enrolling as a first time student is already stressful enough and to have the person that is in charge not able to give you absolutely any information is embarrassing.

They canceled my appt less than an hour before it was supposed to start. It was for my wedding hair to feel and look good for my special day. Very upset, they tried to reschedule but I had no time to get in before, that’s why I scheduled it for that day. It was already such a hectic time and adding that into it made the whole experience even more stressful. I also didn’t receive an apology for the cancellation just that my stylist couldn’t do it and they could reschedule me. I wish they would have let me know at least that morning or something so I would have had more time to figure out another plan, really unprofessional to cancel so last minute on a client, especially for such an important event.
