Former student here. I'm speaking on behalf of the majority of the students there. I do understand the client's frustration. As a school, we should've never had to practice on clients, it's a disappointment. We're supposed to practice on our classmates and accumulate way more than 250 out of 1500 hours before touching a client. This school is money focused, hence we're forced to service clients prematurely even tho we're uncomfortable. I went to a cosmetology school that had a certain days to service clients and the remaining for students only, no clients, so we had enough time to learn. Now, a message to anyone thinking about enrolling, it's ok and a requirement by stateboard to do sanitation at your school, but it's also unlawful by OSHA that if you're not properly vaccinated, you can't clean public bathrooms. We and the clients use our bathrooms and we're forced to clean them. The school doesn't hire a janitor to do a deep clean even once a week.(shame on Gigi, the owner) future students, just know that you're going to be your own instructor. The instructors there barely know anything.( EXCEPT FOR MS. CAROLE) She's truly amazing and she's the theory instructor. She's super disciplined and a master. The other ones knew enough to pass stateboard and be licensed. We Caucasians aren't properly taught how to detangle textured hair. We try our best, but i know it hurts. Instructors would just take over if they feel like it without explaining the difference and how to do it, the school doesn't even have a single botle of hair detangler. The school is very misleading, it says they'll teach you skincare, and nails. They only have 1 facial machine that you'll graduate without knowing how to use it because there's never a facial demonstration for you to learn. Not enough supplies for students to learn. We're not taught how to braid, how to install extensions, how to do locs. If you can do it, they'll assign you a client and make their money. Because they're not required on the stateboard test, we're not being taught how to do them. We paid 25k for nothing. They go through instructors like pages of books cause they're not structured and no one can deal with them. No single instructors there can build an acrylic or gel nail. They focus more on hair hair cause that's where they make the most money. It is a very dramatic place. Not even because of students, but because of instructors, they're competing against each other. One special one is Liz( the short hair blonde) she's loud, judgmental and insecure. The majority of the students there are helpless and dropping out like crazy. They take pride in your financial aid, whether you drop out or not, they'll still get paid. Do not enroll there if you're serious about your money, time and truly learn. I regretted my time at that school. When you graduate, there's not even a clap for you, let alone a ceremony. You walk out like you were never there, when the owner comes to the salon floor, she has her head down like we're some predators to her, never say hi or smile. Shame on Gigi the owner.

It’s always something. Whenever you call they say to come at this specific time, then when you call back they say they can’t see you at that time no one is there that can do a wash and simple cornrows. If you show up when they tell you without calling then no one is also there to do it. The last time I went a new instructor I didn’t see before tried to charge me $20 extra than I usually pay (the usual pleasant instructor wasn’t there), in the end she’ll do me a ‘favor’ and only did $10 extra lol. Poor customer service overall. The first hair school I’ve seen like this. I was thinking about getting a trim once, but one of the students whispered in private to me don’t do it. The space looks clean overall though. The blonde instructor looks professional that’s about it.

Great place to get a haircut. You can't beat an $8 cut. I got a basic men's cut, so i can't speak for the hair style services. Most of the salon services were very affordable. Most were under $20. Students and the teachers were super nice. Teachers walk around to check on the students to make sure they're cutting your hair right. Be patient with them. They're students and still learning. The best part is you're helping the students gain experience! I'm a gonna be a regular now!
