I had a great experience at Empire Beauty School! The prices were my first attraction, but I found more things to like while I was there. The sign-in at the front desk was straight forward and I didn't have to wait long to be seen. The student stylists seemed cheerful and easygoing (lots of laughter, humming to the ambient music) as they went about their tasks. I saw them getting pointers from their trainer/supervisor, and helping each other out as they worked on their assigned styles. But I also could see that it was the more advanced/senior students who provided services to clients. My own stylist, Bernadette, was really nice and she was professional: She was unfazed by the condition my hair was in at the start of our session, asked for my input, and explained what she was doing every step of the way. I went in for a Keratin Smoothing treatment and a hair cut, and I was truly amazed by her patience with the hours-long process. She continued working even when many of the other students (without clients) went on their mid-day break. I was very pleased with my new healthier-looking and -feeling hair when we finished. I was also glad that we both could finally take a break! Bernadette went over ways to protect my hair, and she recommended products/steps to maintain my new keratin treatment and hairstyle at home. I'd have like more advice on things NOT to do in ordee to avoid a repeat of the tangled and frayed condition my hair was in when I got to the school, but that would probably have required a longer consultation, and with a stylist who has several years of practical experience. But I am glad I started the remedy process inexpensively, instead of spending a lot more money on the fees that specialist salons would charge! I will definitely go back to Empire Beauty School in Owings Mills and I will definitely recommend it to others.
