I recently received the worst service I have ever experienced at a salon at Douglas J. I asked for what I normally get there, which is a pretty bright purple color, and ended up with an ugly eggplant purple color. It was nothing the student even did, it’s the instructors who don’t know what they’re doing. They used the wrong color because the color I asked for was out of stock!! I don’t in why they didn’t just tell me this because I could’ve just rescheduled and instead it made it impossible to fix. I asked if removing the ugly purple color would damage my hair any further and they said no, so I went back in another day to remove the color and add what I wanted…but it actually DID end up damaging it. The ugly color wasn’t even removed from my hair and I’ve been pulling out so much hair out of my scalp ever since. There is nothing I can do at this point except for dye my hair darker and chop it off so that the hair loss is less noticeable. I’m incredibly disappointed and would probably never go back there again. The students are fine—it’s the instructors that are completely incompetent. And the HR lady I tried to talk to has been super unempathetic and short and takes days and days to respond. I’ve been walking around with muddy eggplant hair that’s dry and damaged and I don’t feel like myself at all The first picture is what I originally had before this whole ordeal, and the other ones are what they’ve left me with

I've always had pretty good luck with beauty schools. Idon't have a complicated hair style. Well, how can I don't live here in Michigan? I often come to visit family and friends. When I pulled up to the beauty school, I realized I had been here before when it was an Aveda school. My visit here several years ago wasn't so great, but I had already scheduled my appointment so I was trying to be optimistic. Well once again I didn't get what I wanted. It appears they are short-staffed with instructors. Although I explained both to the student and the instructor what type of hairstyle I was looking for, neither gave me what I wanted. It isn't new the student's fault completely, but I do not think the student was ready to be on the floor giving haircuts. a friend of mine was an instructor for Nevada institute in another state and often I would go be a practice model for the students. Maybe the way they teach students today but there's no cross-checking to make sure my haircut is even or a definitive part. Women asked in my hairline. There is so much that needs to improve here. These students pay a lot of money and if you're not setting them up for success outside of the salon because there isn't a strict criteria within the school, they are going to be unprepared.

Destinie is incredible! I’ve had two facials with her and both were fantastic. She’s professional, knowledgeable, and truly has a gift for skincare. My skin felt refreshed, hydrated, and glowing afterward. You can tell she takes pride in her work and genuinely cares about her clients. Highly recommend booking with her — she’s the real deal!
