I would give this school 10 stars if Google had the option. I attended Barberology with ZERO experience cutting hair. The Owner and current teacher were the most patient and helpful staff I have ever worked with, and had the privilege to learn from. I went from fumbling through haircuts in my early weeks, to cutting clean fades, and flowing styles in no time! I was ready for the field immediately after graduation and can’t be thankful enough for the time and effort the staff put into me to become the barber I am today.
If you are planning on learning how to become a barber and start a successful career, there is no other place to be! Barberology will give you the knowledge, cutting edge, and wisdom to outperform barbers from any other school!

I recently graduated from this school, and I want to share my honest opinion about the program. Is it worth it to go to this school? no.
When I first signed up for Barberology School, I had an interview with Charles, and he promised me a lot of things. He said he would teach us how to cut hair, how to run a barber business, and even how to handle stocks. After that interview, I was pretty excited to attend the school. However, the first week I was there, I quickly realized I had made a terrible decision.
On my first day, all the students around me told me that Charles was a liar, a manipulator, and a scammer. I decided to give him a chance, but things didn’t get better. He also promised that our kit would be the best you could get at any school, and it would cost $1,200. I didn’t receive my kit until two weeks after I started, and when I looked up the prices of the items in the kit, they totaled around $500. I don’t understand why he would charge so much for a kit that costs much less and can be bought for cheaper on Amazon.
Charles also told me he would be there every step of the way. On my first day, he didn’t show up until 3 p.m. This became a recurring issue. Once we had more than 30 students, he would show up late and didn’t help around the building. Students had to do everything. He made students clean the building at the end of the day, but that didn’t last long because half the students refused to do it.
Charles has a very strict dress code. If you wear a coat that doesn’t meet the dress code, he will send you home or yell at you. Hey Charles, maybe turn up the heat in the building, and we wouldn’t have to wear jackets. He’s also an easy person to anger. I’ve seen him get right in students’ faces and even spit on them for not putting on an apron while washing. I’ve witnessed him walk out of the office and start screaming and cussing at students. His first response is always to threaten everyone with termination from the program over the smallest things.
I know Charles will probably respond to this and say none of it is true, but before you sign up for this program, talk to the current students. I guarantee you’ll get a different perspective from them than what Charles tells you. Yes, Charles did teach us some things, and he’s not bad at cutting hair, but his teaching style is focused on getting students in and out quickly. He barely teaches, so you probably won’t remember anything he says.
Charles acted like a friend during the interview. He told me he wanted to get me in and out as quickly as possible so I could start making money. That was a lie. He would often put in hours late or sometimes not even update our hours, leaving us two months behind. It felt like he didn’t care about education or his students at all; he just cared about the money he was getting.
He lied during the interview. He will say anything he needs to in order to get you to sign the papers. One student asked Charles if he could make enough tips to pay for his school payments, and Charles said yes. That student ended up having to take two months off to work because he couldn’t afford his school payments. Another lie Charles told just to get students to sign up.
It’s sad, and it shouldn’t be allowed, but Charles has so many connections to the Barber Board that he can get away with anything. Also, since it’s a privately owned business, he can do whatever he wants. One important thing to note: you can’t use FAFSA or any government funds to pay for your education.
At this school, all you do is wait around for haircuts. There’s no real education to prepare you. The only thing Charles goes over with you is the board, but you can’t schedule the test until after you graduate. Then, you have to come back for 3+ weeks to practice for it. Charles won’t let you schedule that test until he thinks you’re ready. Why do you have to come back after graduation? I don’t know. It seems like Charles doesn’t want to teach you until the last minute and then blames you for not doing it on your own. Don’t go to the school you’re going to regret it trust me
