I really don’t recommend to come here for full head highlights. It took 5 1/2 hours for highlights, toner and a blow dry. The student was lovely and chatty however, I felt as though what I came in wanting was not respected. I wanted a neutral blonde (not too warm, not too cold) and I left with a grey ashy blonde with random blue streaks that was just not good. The instructors were helpful but not staying on top of the student as much as they should have. Anyways, the Aveda institute unfortunately doesn’t offer refunds. I went to my usual salon the next day to get it fixed. The salon told me that my hair was slightly over processed and that I could have seriously damaged my hair. Although the price is tempting, I’d stay away from the Aveda institute for highlights.

I dislike leaving a bad review, but I am still reeling from the eyebrow wax I received at the Aveda Institute. I've been to Aveda Institutes in other states and I've had great experiences. But the Manhattan Aveda Institute is woefully unclean and does not supervise its students. I won't mention the student's name because she's still learning, but there was never an instructor to review her plan or her work waxing my eyebrows. I left with one eyebrow mostly the same and one eyebrow 40% smaller--they weren't even level (I hilariously looked like a skeptical cartoon character). What's worse though is how dirty the wax and tools are. After receiving an eyebrow wax at Aveda, I had a line of large pimples in every spot where the wax was--I do not generally have acne. This is a classic consequence of unclean wax and tools. I called the Manhattan Aveda Institute to let them know and they offered me a 20% off coupon to come back in and they seemed disinterested in a report of unsanitary conditions. It's reasonably priced services, but I'd steer clear of the Manhattan Aveda Institute if you're getting any wax or skin care treatments.

Do not go here. Unprofessional doesn't even scratch the surface of the low level service you will get here. It is incredibly difficult for me to understand...

What They Say About Us

"My favorite part about the AVEDA Institute is the level of growth I have experienced. This process began from day one with the specialized, individual attention I received from my educators. This attention has continued and I feel very comfortable being able to express myself in ways I didn't think possible. Now I'm very outgoing and have the confidence to perform all techniques I've learned. So far this career is a really great journey and I enjoy being challenged at the AVEDA Institute, which has truly encouraged me to be the best "me" I can be."
