The Ultimate Makeup Brush Guide
Makeup. We love it, we want it, we constantly wear it. But, with a great makeup collection comes the tools: brushes. The beauty world tells us we need a certain brush for this and a specific brush for that. In reality, how many do you really need? Not to mention, it can get super expensive! We are told that a “powder brush” only works for powder, but we are here to tell you different. Check out our five must have brushes that you can use for multiple products!
Double Ended Brush:
Tarte Double Ended Foundation Brush
Whether it’s for your face or eyes, a double ended brush is a great investment. On this particular Tarte foundation brush, use the bigger flat end to apply foundation to your liking. Flip it around and use the smaller angled side for an easy contour tool.
Eyeshadow Blending Brush:
BareMinerals The Blender Brush
This fluffy blending brush is a great tool to apply for an all over eyeshadow color or to blend out multiple colors on the eye, especially in the crease area. If you aren’t one that is big on eyeshadows, use this as a highlighting tool. Simply use the brush to apply your favorite highlighter along the tops of your cheeks, nose and cupid’s bow.
Brow Brush:
Sephora Collection Pro Brow Brush
Use the angled end to fill in brows and the spool to brush/form your brows. If you don’t fill your brows, use the angled brush end as an eyeliner tool. We recommend using with a gel liner. Love the look of false lashes? You can use the spool end to help separate your lashes after you apply your mascara to help give your eyes a more intense look.
Large Powder Brush:
Makeup Forever 130 Large Powder Brush
Oh the many wonders you can do with a large powder brush! While it’s name may say “powder” only, you can use this for an all over bronzer, or as a blush applicator for the tops of your cheeks. However you choose to utilize this brush, it’s a must have in our kits!
All Over Eyeshadow Brush:
Hourglass All-Over Shadow Brush
Similar to the blending brush, you can use this as another tool for an all over eye color or if you are a little daring, use it to apply eye shadow under the eye along the lash line instead of your lids. Love smokey eyes? This brush works miracles for the corner or your eyes when applying your darker colors.
