I love the personalized attention that I get from the students in this place. Instructors are super attentive. Lots of good positive energy. Only downside is that I get attached and then they graduate. But that’s a good thing!

Editor's Description

Austin's Academy of Hair Design, which is also home to the BeVelle Barber School, believes "students are at the heart of any great school." An alumna named Savannah said she "chose to attend The Academy because I loved the family-like atmosphere!"

Their cosmetology program takes seven to 12 months to complete, depending on if you attend full- or part-time, and covers topics from hair styling to eyelash extensions and tinting.

You could instead complete a barber program in that same amount of time.

If you have a cosmetology license, you could enroll in their cosmo-barber crossover program. This 300-hour program trains students to work as cosmetologists and barbers.

They don't forget about their students after they leave, instead spotlighting them on their blog. In addition to working in typical cosmetology and barber positions, graduates may become business owners, perform services for celebrities, transition into careers in medical esthetics, and more.

A Career In Less Than A Year

As a Cosmetologist, you will be able to perform a range of salon skills with style. Our program is designed to teach you the fundamentals of hair cutting and styling. You will master classic men's and women's cuts, coloring, styling, and trending techniques such as the burst fade and the balayage. In addition, you will have the tools needed to take your career to the next level by studying manicuring, custom brow design, lash extensions and so much more!

As an accredited school, the Academy of Hair Design accepts federal financial aid.
